Since 2003, Laura McKibbon has been creating a unique line of
functional ceramics. Individually hand crafted from earthenware slabs
and printed with found and photographed images, Laura's dishes are
multi-functional works of art, which move effortlessly from kitchen to
bathroom, living room to bedroom. Laura works from a sunny studio in
the heart of the city where she has chosen to focus on small-scale
production and custom design. This allows her to use her background in
printmaking, photography and chemistry to explore and create.
Available
at select design boutiques and galleries, Laura's work has
been rapidly garnering attention both in the ceramic field and within
the design community. Laura continues to exhibit regularly and her
work has been collected internationally. Her work has been featured in
several publications, most recently Elle Decor: Hong Kong and The
Gardiner Ceramic Museum Catalogue, On The Table: 100 Years of
Functional Ceramics in Canada, in which her Canoe Dish graces the cover.
Recently,
Laura's work was added to the permanent Canadian Collection
at the Royal Ontario Museum and she presented her work at "Handled
With Care" during London Design Week, her first internationally
curated exhibition.
